In Nehemiah 10 a binding agreement was put in writing and the leaders, the Levites and the priests affixed their seals to it.

Oh! Wow! Lord, the agreement made with God’s people in the days of Moses was restored.

Something to think about

If God’s people were going to witness for Him in a pagan world they needed united, God-fearing families.

Something to experience

When we choose to follow God we need to follow His plan for our life.  We need to keep our promise to serve Him and Him only even in times of adversity.

In Nehemiah 13 Jews were found breaking God’s laws and forgetting the covenant they had previously reaffirmed (10:30).

Oh! Wow! Lord, Nehemiah was filled with righteous indignation because of the Jews’ behavior.

Something to think about

The people had promised not to allow their children to marry pagans and then turned around and allowed it.

Something to experience

We will not be of benefit to God if we fail to deal with our weaknesses.  Our tendency to sin must be recognized and dealt with swiftly.  Or it  may overpower us and bring us down if we don’t. One of the best reasons for reading the Bible is to learn from the mistakes of God’s people.

Lord, I pray we will follow and obey You.  I pray we will serve You and You only.  Lord I pray we will repent quickly when we sin.  I pray we will read and follow Your Word.  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.
