In Judges 5 a song recounting Israel’s great victory was sung by Deborah and Barak.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, Deborah and Barak praised You through singing.

Something to think about

Music and singing were a cherished part of the Israelites’ culture.  This particular song proclaimed God’s greatness by giving Him credit for the victory.  This was an excellent way to remember and be able to retell this wonderful story from generation to generation.

Something to experience

As we sing praises to God we remind ourselves of His faithfulness and His character.    In our pledge of allegiance we say “one nation under God.” Let’s believe that victory is ours. Even before this present battle against the coronavirus is won in the natural (physical), let’s trust God and sing a song of victory.

Prayer (Song)

Lord, I heard an old, old story, how my Savior came from glory.  How You gave Your life on Calvary to save a wretch like me. I heard about Your groaning, of Your precious blood’s atoning, then I repented of my sins and won the victory.

I heard about Your healing, of Your cleansing power revealing. How You made the lame to walk again and caused the blind to see.  And then I cried, “Dear Jesus, Come and heal my broken spirit,” and somehow You came and brought to me the victory.

I heard about a mansion You have built for me in glory.  And I heard about the streets of gold beyond the crystal sea; About the angels singing, and the old redemption story, And some sweet day I’ll sing up there the song of victory.

O victory in Jesus, My Savior, forever.  You sought me and bought me with Your redeeming blood.  You loved me ere I knew You and all my love is due You.  You plunged me to victory, beneath the cleansing flood (I Corinthians 15:57).

In Your precious name I pray and sing.  AMEN.

Victory In Jesus was written many years ago. The original copyright was filed in 1939 by E. M. Bartlett the composer of the song.
