In Judges 18:1-26 the Israelites had no king and they were not worshiping God.

Oh! Wow! Lord the Israelites were not worshiping You.

Something to think about

The Danites (one of Israel’s tribes) though wanted to use God for selfish gain.

Something to experience

Some people today go to church to feel better, be accepted, relieve guilt, gain business contacts or make friends. We should follow God because we love Him and want to serve Him.

In Judges 18:27-31 The Danites took the priest and the idols from Micah’s home.

Oh! Wow! Lord the men of Dan replaced You with an idol made with human hands.

Something to think about

My Bible notes say an idol is anything that takes God’s place in a person’s life.   Some people invest all their energy in pursuit of money, success, possessions or a career. The presence of these things don’t necessarily indicate God’s blessing or approval of our lifestyle. And they can become something to worship instead of God.

Something to experience

We can protect ourselves against the loss of any of these things above when we invest our life in the living God, whom we can never lose.  We need to seek to please God.

Lord I pray we will put our trust in Your power. Please help us to change all conduct in our life that doesn’t conform to Your expectations. I pray the way we live will reflect our faith in You. I pray we will not allow any sinful habit in our life. I pray You will shine Your Light of truth on any behavior that is not lined up with Your Word and Your will for our life (Romans 12:2).  I pray we will live godly lives that positively influence future generations.  I pray You will reign over not just this generation but all the generations to come (Proverbs 11:11).  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

“May our lives positively influence future generations.” <>< Dona
