Judges 13:1 says The children of Israel again did that which was evil in God’s sight; and God delivered them into the hand of the Philistines for forty years.”

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord you have such a great plan for our life. Why doesn’t everyone choose to seek it?

Something to think about

I know I’ve read the verse above (Judges 13:1) many times before about Israel doing evil in God’s sight.  But I was made aware of something else recently that I don’t think I have ever shared.

The Israelites kept choosing to follow their own desires.  The suffering, oppression and death was not caused by God, but resulted from the fact that the Israelites rejected God’s guidance and made sinful, harmful choices.  May those in America who are living as the Israelites did in Judge 13 stop and return to God.

Something to experience

The warnings in God’s Word are clear.  If we continue to choose our way over God’s perfect plan we can expect the same fate as Israel.  That’s not a threat from God that’s the consequences of us making decisions that put us and our loved ones in harm’s way.

God desires only the best for us. And even though you and I may be seeking God’s plan there are still others making sinful and harmful choices for themselves and sometimes unknowingly for their loved ones as well.

Prayer

Lord I know this is a lot to ask, but America needs You. Lord I pray each of us in America will seek to know Your plan for our life.  I ask You to give us peace and well-being.  I ask You to give us a good future.  I pray we will continually put our hope in You.  I pray we will call on You.  I pray we will come to You.  I pray You will hear our cry for help.  I pray You will listen to us. I pray we will find You when we search for You with all our heart.  I ask You to restore our health, our belongings and our jobs.  I pray You will set us free and gather us together as one united nation (Jeremiah 29:11-14). In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

In Judges 14 Samson was given unusual physical strength when the Spirit of the Lord came upon him.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord now the Holy Spirit dwells in every believer.

Something to think about

The Holy Spirit was not dwelling in Samson but at times the Holy Spirit would come upon Samson giving him strength.

Something to experience

Now if we’re a Christian, we have the Holy Spirit living in us.  The Holy Spirit was sent to indwell Christians once Christ Jesus returned to heaven (Luke 24:49).

Prayer

Lord thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to live in us.  I pray we will look to Him as our Helper, our Comforter, our Advocate, our Intercessor, our Counselor, our Strengthener, and our Standby (John 16:7).   Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to teach us all things.  Thank You for sending the Holy Spirit to help us remember all You’ve spoken in Your Word, spoken in our heart and spoken through others (John 14:26).
