In Joshua 1 we are told Moses died and Joshua, who had been Moses’ personal aide for 40 years, began leading the Israelites. The Lord spoke to Joshua and instructed him to get the Israelites ready to cross the Jordan River.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, You kept Your promise to the Israelites to lead them to their Promised Land.

Something to think about

The Lord told Joshua no one would be able to stand up against him (Joshua) all the days of his life.

Something to experience

We too can trust the Lord to be with us as we face challenges.  We may not conquer nations, but we may daily face tough situations, difficult people and temptations.  However God promised that He will never abandon us or fail to help us.  As believers we can ask God to direct us and help us to conquer life’s challenges.

Prayer

Lord thank You for promising us You will never fail us nor abandon us.  I pray we will be strong, confident and courageous.   I pray we will be careful to do everything in accordance with Your law.  I pray we will not turn to the left of or to the right of Your instructions, so that we may prosper and be successful wherever we go.  I pray we will read and meditate on Your Word, so that we may be careful to obey You in all things (Joshua 1:5-9). In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

In Joshua 2 Rahab was able to help two Israelite spies escape.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, You used a woman of questionable character to carry out Your plan.

Something to think about

Rahab didn’t allow her past to keep her from the new role God had for her.

Something to experience

God uses people with simple faith to accomplish his great purposes, no matter the past they have.

Prayer

Lord I pray we will not let our past dictate our future.  I ask You to use each of us to do Your will (I John 2:29).  Lord I pray we will do Your will in thought, action and purpose (I John 3:10).  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

In Joshua 3 the Israelites crossed the Jordan.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord You made the water part and allowed the Israelites to walk on dry ground to the other side of Jordan (Joshua 3:17).

Something to think about

God gave specific instructions concerning how the Israelites were to precede. The priests had to first step into the water before it would part.

Something to experience

Sometimes God provides no solution to our problems until we put our trust in Him and move with what He has revealed to us.  If you’re facing an obstacle right now, do what You believe God has already directed you to do.  Take that first step.

Prayer

Lord I pray we will move out from our position and follow Your lead (Joshua 3:3).   Lord I pray You will travel with us as we listen to and obey Your Word (Joshua 3:7-10).  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

“May you listen to and obey the Lord today.” <>< Dona
