In Job 38 God compared Job’s lack of knowledge of the earth’s natural order to his lack of knowledge of God’s moral order.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, if Job didn’t understand how Your physical creation worked, how could he possibly understand Your mind and character.

Something to think about

If nature is beyond our understanding, God’s moral purposes just might be different than we imagine.

Something to experience

Our only option is to submit to God’s authority and rest in His care.

In Job 39 God quizzed Job about the animal kingdom.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, again You wanted Job to realize how limited his knowledge was.

Something to think about

God was not seeking answers from Job.  God probably wanted Job to realize and submit to His power and sovereignty.

Something to experience

We should give God a chance to reveal His perfect plan. Remember His purposes may unfold over the course of our life and not at the moment we desire.  We should allow God to speak to us through His Word, through the Holy Spirit, through circumstances or through other people on His time table.

In Job 40:1 God asked Job a question.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, Job told You that he was unworthy.

Something to think about

Though Job had wanted to have an opportunity to plead his case before God, when he actually got the chance he remained quiet (verse 5).

Something to experience

God’s actions do not depend on what we do.  God will do what He knows is best, no matter what we think.

In Job 42 Job humbles himself.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, You rebuked Job’s three friends.

Something to think about

Job’s three friends had cause Job more suffering as they accused him of sinning. Though Job did repent of his attitude.  And he did acknowledge God’s great power and perfect justice.

Something to experience

We cannot know the reasons for everything that happens. Though we can trust God with our unanswered questions.

In Job 42:7-8 God made it clear that Job’s friends were wrong about much that they had said to Job.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, Job’s friends had indeed judged Job without considering or knowing what You were doing.

Something to think about

In doing this God was most likely confirming Job’s claim to have lived a devout and obedient life. Job’s friends had indeed erred in their assessment that Job’s suffering was caused by some great sin.

Something to experience

We need to be careful about judging others because God may be working in ways we don’t know.

Prayer

Lord, I pray we will submit to Your authority (James 4:7 AMP).  Lord, I pray we will rest in Your care (Psalm 62:5 AMP). Lord, I pray we will not conform to this world but will be transformed by the renewing of our mind so we may prove what Your good, acceptable, and perfect will is (Romans 12:2 AMP). Lord I pray we will hear Your message (John 3:34 AMP).  Thank You Lord for having a good plan for us (Jeremiah 29:11 AMP).  Lord, help us to leave all our unanswered questions at Your throne.  Lord, help us to not judge others but to leave judgment with You (Romans 2:1 AMP).   In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.
