In Job 22 Eliphaz makes his third and final speech.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, once again Eliphaz suggested Job might need to repent of some sin.

Something to think about

And Eliphaz suggested several possible sins Job could have committed.   Eliphaz believed Job could receive peace and restoration if he would just admit his sin and repent.   And he believed Job was taking his sins to lightly.

Something to experience

Because God seems so far away to some people, they might take sin lightly.  But this wasn’t Job’s situation. If we find we’ve sinned, I hope we will recognize it and repent.

In Job 22:21-30 Job’s friends had a partial knowledge of God’s truth and character, but they weren’t accurate when it came to applying God’s truth to life.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, nevertheless Eliphaz gave a great summary of repentance (see Job 22:23-27 NIV).

Something to think about

Eliphaz was right in saying that we need to ask God for forgiveness when we sin.  But this wasn’t applicable to Job, because Job had already sought God’s forgiveness (see Job 7:20-21; 9:20; 13:23 NIV).  And Job had already been living close to God.

Something to experience

We too may at some time in our life experience a “Job” situation.  And we too may have friends who are like Job’s.  Questions about God, life and justice are not always so easy to answer.  Sometimes all we can do is trust God and wait on Him to work His plan.

In Job 23 Job explained the confidence he has in his own integrity and God’s justice.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, Job still believed God had a plan (verses 13-14 NIV).

Something to think about

Job truly sought God.  Because of his relationship with God he was able to stand up against his friends’ accusations.

Something to experience

If we are believers all our sins are forgiven because of what Christ Jesus did on the cross on our behalf (Romans 5:1; 8:1).  If God has forgiven us and accepted us we have been forgiven.

Prayer

Lord, I pray we will submit to You.  I pray we will be conformed to Your will and be at peace (Job 22:21 AMP)   Lord, I pray we will receive, establish and keep Your Word in our heart (Job 22:22 AMP).  Lord, when we go astray, I pray we will humble ourselves before You.  I ask You to build us up and restore us.  I pray You will remove unrighteousness far from us (Job 22:23 AMP).     Lord, I pray we will delight in You. I pray we will lift up our face to You (Job 22:26 AMP). Lord, please listen to us when we pray to You (Job 22:27 AMP).  Lord, I pray the Light of Your favor will shine upon us (Job 22:28 AMP).  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

“May you and I experience the Light of God’s favor shining on us.” <>< Dona
