Isaiah 43 Theme

The Israelites belong to God (v. 1).

Oh! Wow! Lord, You created, redeemed, summoned and claimed as Your own the Israelites (v. 1).

Something to think about

The Lord promised the Israelites He would go with them and keep them safe (v. 2).  The Lord assigned the Israelites the task of being His witness (v. 10-12).  The Lord reminded Israel of their past exodus from Egypt and told them there would be another one (v. 15-21).  God is able to blot out the Israelites’ sins and remember them no more (v. 25).

Something to experience

We’ve been grafted into the Jewish lineage (see Romans 11:11-24). Therefore, God has called us His children (v. 1).  And He will one day bring us all together (v. 5-7).  We too are to tell the world who God is and what He has done (v. 10-12).  When we repent God will forgive our sins, and totally forget them (v. 25).

Scripture to hide in your heart

Isaiah 43:1 But now the Lord who created you, Jacob, and He who formed you, Israel, says: “Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you.  I have called you by your name.  You are Mine.

Isaiah 43:2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overflow you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.”

Isaiah 43:5-7 “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you.  I will bring your offspring from the east, and gather you from the west.  I will tell the north, ‘Give them up!’  and tell the south, ‘Don’t hold them back!  Bring My sons from far away, and My daughters from the ends of the earth everyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed, yes, whom I have made.’”

Isaiah 43:10-12 10 “You are My witnesses,” says the Lord, “With My servant whom I have chosen; that you may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He.  Before Me there was no God formed, neither will there be after Me.  11 I Myself am the Lord.  Besides Me, there is no savior.  12 I have declared, I have saved, and I have shown, and there was no strange god among you. Therefore you are My witnesses”,  says the Lord, “and I am God.

Isaiah 43:15-21 15 “I am the Lord, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your King.” 16 The Lord, who makes a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters, 17 who brings out the chariot and horse, the army and the mighty man (they lie down together, they shall not rise; they are extinct, they are quenched like a wick) says:
18 “Don’t remember the former things, and don’t consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing.  It springs out now.  Don’t you know it?  I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.  20 The animals of the field, the jackals and the ostriches, shall honor Me, because I give water in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My people, My chosen, 21  the people which I formed for Myself, that they might declare My praise.”

Isaiah 43:25 “I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins.”

Isaiah 44 Theme

Israel was chosen.

Oh! Wow! Lord, You have a special relationship with Israel (v. 1-2).

Something to think about

The Lord will give water to the thirsty, He will pour His Spirit on Israel’s descendants and He will bless their offspring (v. 3-5).  There is only one true God and He’s not made of wood (v. 6-8).  In Biblical times some made their own idols (see verses 9-20)  God will not forget Israel (v. 21-23). The Lord created everything.  He can therefore confuse those who don’t know Him and help those who do know Him (v. 24-26).

Something to experience

We are part of Israel’s descendants.  This happened when God adopted us into His family.  Nowadays man makes money and fame their idols.  If we make our own idols, how can we expect them to empower us? As Christians we need not fear or be afraid for our God will faithfully execute His plan (v. 6-8).

Scriptures to hide in your heart

Isaiah 44:1-2 1 Yet listen now, Jacob my servant, and Israel, whom I have chosen. This is what the Lord who made you, and formed you from the womb, who will help you says: “Don’t be afraid, Jacob my servant; and you, Jeshurun (the upright one), whom I have chosen.”

Isaiah 44:3-5 “For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, and streams on the dry ground.  I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring: and they will spring up among the grass, as willows by the watercourses. One will say, ‘I am the Lord’s; and another will be called by the name of Jacob; and another will write with his hand ‘to Yahweh (the Lord),’ and honor the name of Israel.”

Isaiah 44:6-8 This is what the Lord, the King of Israel, and His Redeemer, the Lord of Armies, says: “I am the first, and I am the last; and besides Me there is no God.  Who is like Me?   Who will call, and will declare it, and set it in order for Me, since I established the ancient people?  Let them declare the things that are coming, and that will happen.  Don’t fear, neither be afraid.  Haven’t I declared it to you long ago, and shown it?  You are My witnesses.  Is there a God besides Me? Indeed, there is not.  I don’t know any other Rock.”

Isaiah 44:21-23 21 Remember these things, Jacob and Israel; for you are My servant.  I have formed you.  You are My servant.  Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me.  22 I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and, as a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.  23 Sing, you heavens, for the Lord has done it!  Shout, you lower parts of the earth!  Break out into singing, you mountains, O forest, all of your trees, for the Lord has redeemed Jacob, and will glorify Himself in Israel.

Isaiah 44:24 24 The Lord, your Redeemer, He who formed you from the womb says: “I am the Lord, who makes all things; who alone stretches out the heavens; who spreads out the earth by Myself; 25 who frustrates the signs of the liars, and makes diviners mad;26who turns wise men backward, and makes their knowledge foolish; who confirms the word of His servant, and performs the counsel of His messengers …”

Isaiah 45 Theme

Cyrus, the anointed one (v. 1).

Oh! Wow! Lord, though Cyrus was a Gentile ruler, You anointed him for a specific purpose (v. 2-3).

Something to think about

Cyrus wasn’t a follower of God, yet God gave him the task of helping His people, the Jewish nation (v. 4-7).  God is in control (v. 11-13).  God’s plan will succeed (v. 17-21). Salvation is from Him alone (v. 22-23).

Something to experience

The president we have right now doesn’t behave like a Christian either.  He uses unkind words when talking about others, and his actions don’t always make sense. Back in 2016 I considered voting for Mickey Mouse for president but my 6-year-old granddaughter discouraged me from doing so.  At the time Mickey was more real than any of my other choices. Then I decided to read up on the platforms for all 4 parties that had a candidate in the race and I made my decision using the information I read.  Perhaps you’ll take time to look up the party platforms for those running this year.  This year I have the opportunity to vote again for president.  This time I decided to look up our president’s promises and accomplishments since he was elected.  Perhaps they will help you decide who to vote for on November 3, 2020. Scriptures to hide in your heart

Isaiah 45:1 “The Lord says to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held, to subdue nations before him, and strip kings of their armor; to open the doors before him, and the gates shall not be shut:”

Isaiah 45:2 -3 “I will go before you and make the rough places smooth.  I will break the doors of bronze in pieces and cut apart the bars of iron.  I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that it is I, the Lord, who calls you by your name, even the God of Israel.”

Isaiah 45:4-7 “For Jacob My servant’s sake, and Israel My chosen, I have called you by your name.  I have given you a title, though you have not known Me.  I am the Lord, and there is no one else.  Besides Me, there is no God.  I will strengthen you, though you have not known Me, that they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is no one besides Me.  I am the Lord, and there is no one else.  I form the light and create darkness.  I make peace and create calamity.  I am the Lord, who does all these things.”

Isaiah 45:11-13 11 The Lord, the Holy One of Israel and its Maker says: “You ask Me about the things that are to come, concerning my sons, and you command Me concerning the work of my hands!  12 I have made the earth, and created man on it. I, even My hands, have stretched out the heavens.  I have commanded all their army.  13 I have raised him up in righteousness, and I will make all his ways straight.  He shall build My city, and he shall let my exiles go free, not for price nor reward,” says the Lord of Armies.

Isaiah 45:17-21 17 Israel will be saved by the Lord with an everlasting salvation.  You will not be disappointed nor confounded to ages everlasting.  18 For the Lord who created the heavens, the God who formed the earth and made it, who established it and didn’t create it a waste, who formed it to be inhabited says: “I am the Lord.  There is no other.  19 I have not spoken in secret, in a place of the land of darkness. I didn’t say to the offspring of Jacob, ‘Seek me in vain.’  I, the Lord, speak righteousness.  I declare things that are right.  20 Assemble yourselves and come. Draw near together, you who have escaped from the nations.  Those have no knowledge who carry the wood of their engraved image, and pray to a god that can’t save. 21 Declare and present it.  Yes, let them take counsel together.  Who has shown this from ancient time?  Who has declared it of old?  Haven’t I, the Lord? There is no other God besides Me, a just God and a Savior.  There is no one besides Me.”

Isaiah 45:22-23 22 “Look to me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other. 23 I have sworn by Myself.  The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, and will not be revoked, that to Me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall take an oath.”

Lord, thank You for bringing us into Your family (Isaiah 43:1).  Lord I pray we will share with the world who You are and what You’ve done (Isaiah 43:10-12).  Lord, I pray we will repent quickly when we realize we’ve sinned.  Thank You for forgiving our sins and remembering them no more.  I pray we will treat others similarly (Isaiah 43:25). Lord, I pray we will receive water from You when we are thirsty.  I pray You will pour out Your Spirit on us. I pray You will bless us (Isaiah 44:3-5).  Lord, You are the one true God and Your plans are executed perfectly (Isaiah 44:6-8). Lord, You are in control (Isaiah 45:11-13).  Your plan will succeed (Isaiah 45:17-21). And salvation is from You alone (Isaiah 45:22-23). In Your Son, Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

“May you and I remember God is really the one in control and His plan will succeed.” <>< Dona
