“May we hear the Lord’s voice when He speaks.” <>< Dona (04/16/20)

I Samuel 3 said the word of the Lord was rare.  Yet the Lord spoke to a young boy named Samuel.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord You spoke to Samuel about what was going to happen to Eli’s family.

Something to think about

Though no prophets were speaking God’s message to Israel, God spoke to and through a young boy.

Something to experience

Listening and responding is vital in a true relationship with God.  To receive God’s message we must be ready to listen and act upon what He tells us.  God may use unexpected channels to get His message to us.  He can work at any place, at any time, and through anyone He chooses. Be alert.

In Samuel 5 the people of Ashdod were afflicted with tumors.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord your hand was heavy upon the people of Ashdod and the surrounding area.

Something to think about

Similarly, today many people don’t respond to the truth found in the Word of God until they experience physical, mental or spiritual pain.

Something to experience

Are we willing to listen to God because we know His Word is true, or do we turn to Him only when we are hurting?

In Samuel 7 Samuel talked to the Israelites about returning to the Lord, ridding themselves of the foreign gods, committing themselves to the Lord and serving Him only.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord according to Samuel You would save the Israelites from the Philistines.

Something to think about

How easy it is for us to complain about our problems, even to God, while we refuse to act, change and do what He requires.  Sometimes we don’t take the advice that God gives us.

Something to experience

What truly holds first place in our life?  We must not let anything else take God’s place in our life.   Is there anything the Lord has already instructed us to do? We may not receive any new guidance from the Lord until we have acted on His previous directions.

Prayer

Lord I pray we will listen and respond to You (Isaiah 28:16 AMP).  I pray we will hear Your voice – audibly, in our heart, in Your Word and through other people (Isaiah 55:11 AMP). When we are convinced it is Your voice I pray we will act on what we believe we’re hearing (John 14:26 AMP).  I pray we will believe Your Word (Matthew 28:19 AMP).  I pray we will not turn from Your guidance (Psalm 14:2 AMP). I pray You will always be first place in our life (I Peter 3:15 AMP).  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

“May the Lord always be first in your life.” <>< Dona
