In I Kings 10:23-29 King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth.  Many people sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, many people wanted to meet with and hear from King Solomon.

Something to think about

It’s true some people prosper when God runs their life.  But prosperity is not a guarantee.  Wealth doesn’t prove that a person is living right before God and poverty doesn’t indicate sin.

Something to experience

When we look to God we can trust whatever He allows to enter our life will ultimately turn out for our good.

In I Kings 11 though Solomon had been warned about being unequally yoked he disregarded God’s commands about marriage.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, Solomon’s heart was turned away from You by foreign women.

Something to think about

King Solomon married many foreign women who subsequently led him away from God.

Something to experience

God knows our strengths and weaknesses, and His commands are always for our good.  If we ignore God’s commands, negative consequences result. We must follow God’s Word and apply it to our daily activities and decision making.

In I Kings 12:6-14 After King Solomon died, his son Rehoboam caused a rebellion that divided the nation. Rehoboam ruled the southern kingdom and Jeroboam ruled the northern kingdom.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, Rehoboam’s decision to not follow the advice of the elders led to a divided kingdom.

Something to think about

Rehoboam decided to consult with the young men with whom he had grown up.  They gave unwise advice.

Something to experience

Seek and accept advice that is realistic, workable and consistent with Biblical principles.  Make sure the advice will be fair, will improve the situation, and will result in a positive solution or direction.  Seek advice from those who are wiser and more experienced. The advice is helpful only if it lines up with God’s standards.

Prayer

Lord I pray as Solomon did for wisdom for all of us (James 1:6 AMP).  Wealth and prosperity may or may not be in our life but if You are with us that’s all we need (Romans 8:28 AMP).  Lord I pray we will understand that You ask us not to marry those who do not share our faith because we too may be lead away to other gods (II Corinthians 6:14 AMP).  Lord I pray we will seek advice that lines up with Your plan and Your purposes (Romans 12:2 AMP).  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

“May you and I seek the Lord’s plans and purposes for our life.” <>< Dona
