Genesis 32:1-2.

Response

“Oh! Wow!” Lord, You sent Jacob an angel.

Something to think about

Jacob met angels.  Because of this encounter Jacob probably believed the angels were God’s army there to protect him.

Something to experience

There are times we too may encounter angels (Hebrews 13:2).

Prayer

Lord I pray we will be friendly, cordial and gracious to those we invite into our home.  I pray we will generously share what we have with others, especially those who belong to the family of believers.  For by doing this we may sometimes be entertaining angels without even knowing it. (Hebrews 13:2).

Genesis 32:3-12.

Response

“Oh! Wow!” Lord, Jacob wanted to heal his relationship with his brother, Esau.

Something to think about

Jacob sent a large gift to Esau ahead of his and his family’s arrival.  He wanted to find favor in his estranged brother Esau’s sight.  When Jacob’s messengers returned they reported Esau was traveling toward them with 400 men.  Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed. But then Jacob reminded both himself and God of His promises to him.

Something to experience

And we can do the same.  Prayer is about reminding ourselves of what God has promised us by speaking to God about what His Word says (II Corinthians 5:7).

God’s Word, the Bible, is full of promises that we as Christians can pray.  Find at least one today that you will pray and trust God to accomplish in your life. (My verse is Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.)

Prayer

Lord today I pray that we would trust You and Your Word to work in our lives. For according to Your Word we walk by faith, not by sight.  I pray we will live our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in Your promises (II Corinthians 5:7). Lord thank You for being deeply concerned about each of us.  I pray we will know with great confidence that You cause all things to work together for good for those of us who love You, for those of us who are called according to Your plan and purpose (Romans 8:28).  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

Genesis 33:1-5.

Response

“Oh! Wow!” Lord, Esau was ready to heal his relationship with his brother, Jacob.

Something to think about

From verse 4 it looks like Esau has put the past in the past. He runs to meet Jacob.  He embraces Jacob.  He falls on Jacob’s neck, kisses him and weeps.  Esau quickly reconciles with his brother Jacob.

Something to experience

Is there any relationship that needs healing in your life? Take the situation to the Lord.

Prayer

Lord I pray we will seek to restore and heal any broken relationships we have.  I pray we will experience Your peace in all our relationships. I pray wives and husbands will submit to and love one another (Ephesians 5:21, 25; John 13:34).  I pray husbands will lead their families (Ephesians 5:22-24).   Lord I pray children will obey their parents (Ephesians 6:1).  I pray we will love our neighbors as ourselves (Galatians 5:14). I pray above all else if our relationship with You needs healing we will run to You, embrace You, and reconcile with You.  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

“May you and I always be ready to reconcile.” <>< Dona
