Genesis 15:1 After these things Yahweh’s (God’s) word came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Don’t be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
“Oh! Wow!” Lord I believe You speak those words to us too. That we’re not to be afraid. And that You’re our Shield, our exceedingly great reward.
Something to experience
When you are tempted to fear, stop and remind yourself God is with you, that trusting in God leads to life and peace.
Lord I pray we will not be afraid, for You are with us. I pray we will not be dismayed for You are our God. I ask You to strengthen us. I ask You to help us. I ask You to uphold us with the right hand of Your righteousness (Isaiah 41:10). I pray we will fear, that is revere You, for that leads to life which leads to contentment (Proverbs 19:23). Lord thank You for giving us peace. Not the peace the world gives, but Your peace. I pray our heart will not be troubled, neither will it be fearful of our surroundings (John 14:27). I pray we will indeed trust in You. In Christ Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN.
In Genesis 18: 20-33 Abraham is concerned about the righteous people living in Sodom.
“Oh! Wow!” Lord nobody is out of Your reach.
Something to think about
Abraham asked the Lord would He sweep away the righteous with the wicked. The Lord said if He found ten righteous people in Sodom He would not destroy Sodom for their sin (see verse 20-21).

Are there loved ones you believe are beyond God’s reach? Why not speak to the Lord as Abraham did. Ask God to show mercy to those you love who don’t know Christ Jesus is their Lord and Savior. But understand God is just. He punishes sin. Our prayers don’t change God’s mind but they may change ours just as Abraham’s prayer changed his. Prayer helps us better understand the mind of God. God gives each one of us opportunities to turn and trust in Him. Each of us has a decision to make.
