Theme Ezekiel 40

The Temple.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, what a future You have planned for those who choose to follow You.

Something to think about

Ezekiel had visions from God about the restoration of the temple (v. 1-4). And God would return to His people. It’s possible that this is a vision of God’s future perfect kingdom.

Something to experience

This will be a time for all believers to have an ideal relationship with God as we focus on Him, and Him alone.  One day all believers will enjoy eternal life with God.

Scripture to hide in your heart

Ezekiel 40:1-4 1 In the twenty-fifth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after the city was struck, in the same day, the Lord’s hand was on me, and He brought me there. In the visions of God He brought me into the land of Israel, and set me down on a very high mountain, on which was something like the frame of a city to the south. He brought me there; and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of bronze, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate. The man said to me, “Son of man, see with your eyes, and hear with your ears, and set your heart on all that I will show you; for you have been brought here so that I may show them to you. Declare all that you see to the house of Israel.”

Theme Ezekiel 41

The Most Holy Place (v. 1-4).

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, Your glory dwells in the Most Holy Place.

Something to think about

The Most Holy Place is the innermost room in the temple.

Something to experience

We believers are now the Lord’s temple. And the Holy Spirit dwells within us. We are to bring glory to God through the way we live.

I Corinthians 6:19-20 19 Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.)

Scripture to hide in your heart

Ezekiel 41:1-4 1 He brought me to the temple, and measured the posts, six cubits wide on the one side, and six cubits wide on the other side, which was the width of the tent. The width of the entrance was ten cubits;[b] and the sides of the entrance were five cubits on the one side, and five cubits on the other side. He measured its length, forty cubits, and the width, twenty cubits.  Then he went inward and measured each post of the entrance, two cubits; and the entrance, six cubits; and the width of the entrance, seven cubits. He measured its length, twenty cubits, and the width, twenty cubits, before the temple. He said to me, “This is the most holy place.”

Theme Ezekiel 42

The Priests (v. 13-14).

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, the priests had to wear special garments in the inner rooms of the temple (v. 14).

Something to think about

The priests were required to wear special garments when approaching God.

Something to experience

We too should clothe ourselves in appropriate garments such as the garment of praise – Isaiah 61:3; gladness – Psalm 30:11; humility – I Peter 5:5; the whole armor of God – Ephesians 6:11; and white garments – Revelation 3:18.

Scripture to hide in your heart

Ezekiel 42:13-14 13 Then he said to me, “The north rooms and the south rooms, which are before the separate place, are the holy rooms, where the priests who are near to the Lord shall eat the most holy things. There they shall lay the most holy things, with the meal offering, the sin offering, and the trespass offering; for the place is holy. 14 When the priests enter in, then they shall not go out of the holy place into the outer court, but they shall lay their garments in which they minister there; for they are holy. Then they shall put on other garments, and shall approach that which is for the people.”

Prayer

Lord, I pray we believers will focus on You and You alone (Ezekiel 40).  Lord, I pray that we believers will understand that our body is Your temple and that we are to bring glory to You through how we live our lives (Ezekiel 41).  Lord, I pray we believers will clothe ourselves in garments of praise, gladness, and humility.  I pray we will put on the armor of God and stand firm against our enemy.  I pray we will look forward to wearing white garments in heaven (Ezekiel 42). In Christ Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN.

“May you and I continually and always look forward to eternity with the Lord.” <>< Dona
