Ezekiel 19 Theme

Israel’s princes (v. 1).

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, Ezekiel used illustrations to get Your message across to the people.

Something to think about

My Bible notes: The lioness symbolized Judah and the two cubs represented two of its kings.  This illustration showed there was no hope for Judah to return quickly from exile. And there was no escape from the armies approaching from Babylon.

Something to experience

Just as the political and military might of Judah couldn’t save them, neither can America’s political or military might save us.

Scripture to hide in your heart

Ezekiel 19:1“Moreover, take up a lamentation for the princes of Israel,”

Ezekiel 20 Theme

Israel rebels.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, You wanted Israel to return to You (v. 6-7).

Something to think about

Yet Israel rebelled and would not listen to God (v. 8). God spoke a message about the judgments to come upon Jerusalem (v. 45-48).

Something to experience

Just like God was asking Israel, He’s asking us to obey Him and He will give us life (v. 11).

Scripture to hide in your heart

Ezekiel 20:6-7 6 “in that day I swore to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands. I said to them, ‘Each of you throw away the abominations of his eyes. Don’t defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’”

Ezekiel 20:8 “But they rebelled against Me, and would not listen to Me. …”

Ezekiel 20:11 “I gave them My statutes, and showed them My ordinances, which if a man does, he will live in them.”

Ezekiel 20:45-48 45 The Lord’s word came to me, saying, 46 “Son of man, set your face toward the south, and preach toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the South. 47 Tell the forest of the South, ‘Hear the Lord’s word: The Sovereign Lord says, “Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it will devour every green tree in you, and every dry tree. The burning flame will not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north will be burned by it. 48 All flesh will see that I, the Lord, have kindled it. It will not be quenched.’”

Ezekiel 21 Theme

Babylon, God’s weapon.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord, You were against the land of Israel (v. 3).

Something to think about

The Lord was going to cut off both the righteous and wicked (v. 4-5).

Something to experience

Just like Israel, America may be in danger of being taken captive because of some of our citizens who are rebelling (v. 24).

Scripture to hide in your heart

Ezekiel 21:3 Tell the land of Israel, ‘The Lord says: “Behold, I am against you, and will draw My sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked.”

Ezekiel 21:4-5 4 “Seeing then that I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked, therefore My sword will go out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north. All flesh will know that I, the Lord, have drawn My sword out of its sheath. It will not return any more.”

Ezekiel 21:24 “Therefore the Sovereign Lord says: ‘Because you have caused your iniquity to be remembered, in that your transgressions are uncovered, so that in all your doings your sins appear; because you have come to memory, you will be taken with the hand.’”

Prayer

Lord, I pray we who are believers will stand in the gap and pray for our nation.  For Your Word says if we who are Your people, who are called by Your name will humble ourselves and pray and seek Your face and turn from our wicked ways; You will hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our land (II Chronicles 7:14). In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

“May you and I always seek God’s will.” <>< Dona
