THE BOOK OF II SAMUEL IN REVIEW

DAVID’S REIGN: (Notes from my Bible) The Israelites struggled to unite as a nation and drive out the wicked inhabitants they encountered.  But now, after more than 400 years, Israel finally was at peace.

David accomplished what no other leader before him, judge or king, could.  His administration was run on the principle of dedication to God and to the well-being of the people.

Yet David also sinned.  Despite his sins, however, the Bible called David a man after God’s own heart (I Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22) because when he sinned, he recognized it and confessed his sins to God.  David committed his life to God and remained loyal to Him throughout his lifetime (Colossians 3:12).

Something to experience

Have we committed our lives to God and remained loyal to Him?  Are we recognized by those around us as men and women after God’s own heart?

Prayer

Lord I pray that we will commit our lives to You (Psalm 37:5) and remain loyal to You all the days of our life (Proverbs 16:3).  I pray we will seek to be known as men and women after Your heart. In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.
