Joshua 13 through 15 explained how the Promised Land was divided among the Israelites.

In Joshua 13:1 we’re told Joshua was well advanced in years.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord though Joshua was at least 85 years old You still had work for him to do.

Something to think about

Our culture may glorify the younger and stronger among us. Yet many older people have acquired wisdom through their life experiences.  The Lord has a job for everyone who seeks Him.

Something to experience

As we believers get older we too may acquire wisdom that we can share with those who’ve not yet experienced what we have. Believers never retire from God’s service. And no matter your age, if you’ve chosen to follow Jesus He can use you.

Prayer

Lord I pray we believers will act wisely.  I pray we will truly seek after You.  I pray we will long for Your wisdom and Your guidance (Psalm 14:2). Lord I pray we will be found speaking justice and truth (Psalm 37:30).  Lord I pray we will be among those who have received salvation through Christ Jesus.  I pray we will indeed be acceptable to You.  I pray we will be sanctified, that is made holy and set apart for You.  Thank You for providing Your Son as the ransom to save us from the penalty of sin (I Corinthians 1:30).  Lord I ask You to grant us a spirit of wisdom and revelation, that is a deep, personal, intimate insight, into the true knowledge of You (Ephesians 1:17).  Lord I pray Your Word will have its home within us, dwelling in our heart and mind, permeating every aspect of our being.  I pray we will teach, admonish and train one another with all wisdom.  I pray we will sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in our hearts to You (Colossians 3:16).  Lord I pray when we lack wisdom we will look to You for the wisdom to guide us through our decisions or circumstances (James 1:5-6).  Lord I pray we will receive Your wisdom from above that is pure, morally and spiritual undefiled, peace-loving, courteous, considerate, gentle, reasonable, willing to listen, full of compassion and good fruits  (James 3:17). In Christ Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN.

************************

In Joshua 13:13 the Israelites didn’t completely drive out some of the inhabitants.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord there were dire consequences to the Israelites when they did not totally driving out the inhabitants.

(F.Y.I. When we get to the book of Judges we’ll find out the consequences of the Israelites not totally driving out the inhabitants.)

Something to think about

Just as the Israelites failed to remove completely the sin from the land, we believers often fail to remove completely the sin in our own life.  We too can experience equally disastrous results.

Something to experience

Review the Ten Commandments (in Exodus 20:1-17).  Are you tolerating sinful practices or thoughts?  Do you condemn the faults of others but condone your own?

Prayer

Lord I pray we will spend time with You meditating on Your Word.   Lord I pray all the words of our mouth will align with Your Word (Proverbs 8:8).  Lord I pray we will be blessed as we hear Your Word and continually observe it (Luke 11:28).  Lord I pray we will recognize You as our Creator.  I pray we will honor You as God.  I pray we will thank You for all Your wondrous creation (Romans 1:21).  I pray if we find any thoughts, words or deeds that are contrary to Your Word we will quickly repent and turn from them.  I pray we will prove to be doers of Your Word, actively and continually obeying Your percepts (James 1:22). I pray we believers will experience well-being, contentment, happiness and protection (I Peter 3:9).  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

“May you experience well-being, contentment, happiness and protection from the Lord today.” <>< Dona
