Numbers 21:4-9 The Israelites grew impatient and spoke against God and against Moses.  They complained about having no bread, no water, and miserable food.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord the Israelites just keep complaining but then again I’m still complaining at times too.

Something to think about

The sources of Israel’s complaining – (1) they were not faithful to God; (2) they refused to obey God’s law; and (3) they forgot the miracles God had done for them (see Psalm 78).

Something to experience

When I’m complaining from which of the above sources am I drawing? What about you?

Prayer

Lord I pray we will recognize the source and deal with the cause of our complaining (Jude 15-16).  I pray this attitude of ingratitude will not take hold or have an opportunity to grow in our life (I Corinthians 10:9-10).  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

F.Y.I. My Bible notes for Numbers 21:8-9 say when the bronze snake was hung on the pole, the Israelites didn’t know the fuller meaning Jesus Christ would bring to this event (See John 3:14-15).  Jesus explained that just as the Israelites were healed of their sickness by looking at the snake on the pole, all believers today can be saved from the sickness of sin by looking to Jesus’ death on the cross.  It was not the snake that healed the people, but their obedience to God’s instructions. In the same way, we should continue to look to and obey Christ Jesus (see Hebrews 12:2).

Numbers 22-24. Balaam a sorcerer was used by God.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord You can use not only a sorcerer but in this story You also used his donkey.

Something to think about

Even today God is using people in our world.  They may not be totally sold out for Christ Jesus but nevertheless God can use them just as He used Balaam and his donkey.

Something to experience

We can face our sins and realize that God is willing to receive us, forgive us, and literally make us over from within.

Prayer

Lord I pray we will be willing vessels for You to work through today. I pray You will receive us (Hebrews 12:6), forgive us (Matthew 5:4) and make us over from within (Romans 12:2; Ephesians 2:10) . In Christ Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN.

“If you haven’t already, I hope you experience a make over from God today.” <>< Dona
