Numbers 9:15-23 is about the cloud by day and the fire by night guiding the Israelites.

Response

Oh! Wow!  Lord Your GPS was better than any man made one.

Something to think about

The cloud by day led the way when the Israelites were moving and the fire by night stopped the Israelites when they were to stop.  My Bible notes say the cloud and fire were not merely a natural phenomenon.  They were the vehicle of God’s presence and the visible evidence of His moving and directing His people.

Something to experience

If we follow God’s guidance we too will know when to move and when to stay where we are.

Prayer

Lord I ask You to reveal what Your plan is for us (Jeremiah 29:11-13).  Thank You for not only wanting to guide us to the next situation or place, but thank You for wanting to guide us in the situation and in the place we are right now (Exodus 33:15). Thank You Lord for leading us in triumph in Christ Jesus.  Thank You for using us to spread and make evident everywhere the sweet fragrance of the knowledge of Christ Jesus (II Corinthians 2:14).  In His name I pray. AMEN.

Numbers 10:29-32 Moses asked his father-in-law to help guide the Israelites to the Promised Land.

Response

Oh! Wow! Moses was thoughtful and respectful toward his father-in-law.

Something to think about

Though Moses was the leader, he let his father-in-law know he was valued and needed as their guide. (see Exodus 2:11-22 for background).

Something to experience

Is there someone you might encourage by letting them know how valuable they are to you?  Who has helped you recently?  What can you say or do to show your appreciation?

Prayer

Lord You are valuable to us.  You are the first one I want to thank.  Thank You for Your awesome acts.  Thank You for continually giving to us (Psalm 145:6). Thank You for building us up in our faith by sending godly men and women to lead and teach us (Colossians 2:7).  I pray we will receive instruction and walk in a way that pleases You.  I pray we will live in a way that expresses gratitude to You for our salvation (I Thessalonians 4:1).  I also pray we will acknowledge and encourage those who have treated us with kindness (I Corinthians 16:18).  I pray we will appreciate and honor men and women who are godly examples to us (Philippians 2:29).  I pray we will appreciate brothers and sisters in the Lord who are diligently working among us.  I pray we will hold them in the highest esteem because of their work (I Thessalonians 5:12-13).  Thank You for Your Son Christ Jesus (John 3:16) and it is in His name I pray.  AMEN.
