Leviticus 24:10-23 recalls an incident in which a man blasphemed God and was stoned for doing so.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord You are serious about the words we speak.

Something to think about

This incident showed how seriously God expects us to take our relationship with Him.  Why do you think nowadays people who curse or blaspheme God aren’t punished? (This might be the answer: I Timothy 1:12-17 (WEB) 12 I (Paul) thank Him who enabled me, Christ Jesus our Lord, because He counted me faithful, appointing me to service; 13 although I used to be a blasphemer, a persecutor, and insolent. However, I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 14 The grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 15 The saying is faithful and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 16 However, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first, Jesus Christ might display all His patience for an example of those who were going to believe in Him for eternal life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.)

Something to experience

We should be careful how we speak and act.  We should treat God with reverence. Eventually God will have the last word.

Prayer

Lord I pray sin will no longer be a master over us, since we are not under the Law but we are under grace (Romans 6:14).  Lord thank You for showing mercy, Your sovereign gift to us who are believers (Romans 9:16).  Thank You for making us spiritually alive together with Christ Jesus. Thank You for saving us from Your judgment (Ephesians 2:5).   In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

Leviticus 25 The Lord speaks to Moses about the Sabbath Year and the Year of Jubilee.

Response

Oh! Wow! Lord Your ownership is absolute. You won everything.

Something to think about

God wants us to avoid greed and materialism.

Something to experience

If we have the attitude that we are taking care of the Lord’s property, we will more readily share with others.

Prayer

Lord I pray we will understand we are only managers of all that is under our care.  Lord I pray we will understand You own everything (Psalm 50:10-12).  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.
