Exodus 13:17-18.

When the Israelites left Egypt, God lead them on a path that would bypass the land of the Philistines.  God had a reason for doing that.

Response: “Oh! Wow!” Lord You were keeping them from being discouraged.

Something to think about: God sometimes allows us to go through situations that might not make sense to us, but perhaps He is keeping us from a more difficult path.  In every situation God has a plan and a way for us to succeed.

Prayer: Lord I pray we will trust in and rely confidently on You with all our heart. I pray we will not rely on our own insight and understanding. In every situation I pray we will recognize You are there with us.  For then Your Word says You will make our paths straight and smooth and remove obstacles that block our way (Proverbs 3:5-6). I pray we will understand because we are Christians You have promised us You will never give us more than we can handle. Your Word says no temptation, regardless of its source, has ever overtaken or enticed us that is not common to human experience, nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance.  Your Word says You are faithful, compassionate and trustworthy. Your Word says You will not let us be tempted beyond our ability to resist, but along with the temptation You will provide the way out as well.  So that we will be able to endure the temptation without yielding and we will overcome the temptation with joy (I Corinthians 10:13). Thank You Lord for your involvement in our life.  In  Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

Exodus 14:1-31 Pharaoh decided to pursue the Israelites. When they were encamped by the sea, they saw Pharaoh coming after them.  They were afraid and complained to Moses.  They said it would have been better for them to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness (verse 12).  Despite the Israelites’ complaints God saved them.

Response: “Oh! Wow!” Lord the Israelites were not grateful for what You did for them, that is bringing them out of slavery.

Something to think about: I struggle with being held captive to unhealthy eating habits.   I know God wants me to be set free from all physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bondage. Perhaps there is something keeping you from being totally free too.

Prayer: Lord I ask You to help us.  Lord I ask You to set us free from anything that is holding us back from being all You want us to be.  Thank You for sending Christ Jesus to set us free, to liberate us.  I pray we will stand firm and not be subjected again to a yoke of slavery to anything or anyone but You (Galatians 5:1).

Exodus 15:1-21 God saved Moses and the children of Israel and destroyed the army pursuing them. At last the Israelites praised God for setting them free.

Response: “Oh! Wow!” Lord You held back the water so the Israelites could walk on dry land to the other side of the Red Sea.

Something to think about: Has there been a time that God has kept you from being harmed?  One example from my life: One day I was coming home from church.  As I began a left turn with a green arrow light a car from the opposite direction ignored his red light and came speeding toward me.  To this day I believe it was God that protected me.  The vehicle was coming straight at me, then it was on the other side of me.

Prayer: Lord I pray when we realize that You’ve spared us from harm we will give thanks to You right then.  I pray we will safely escape from danger (Psalm 141:10).  I pray we will escape from trouble (Proverbs 12:13). I ask You to rescue us and draw us near because we have set our hope on You (II Corinthians 1:10).  I pray tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, danger or sword will not separate us from the love of Christ Jesus (Romans 8:35).  In His name I pray.  AMEN.

Exodus 15:22-27  The Israelites once again murmured.  Moses once again cried to God. And once again God came through for them, provided them clean water to drink and promised them if they would diligently listen to Him, do what was right, and obey Him none of the diseases put on the Egyptians would come upon them.

Response: “Oh! Wow!” Lord You are such a faithful and good God even when we’re not either of those.

Something to think about: I have so much that I take for granted.  I have clean water, food to eat, a roof over my head and much more. How about you?

Prayer: Lord thank You for richly and abundantly supplying all we need (Matthew 13:12). Lord thank You for liberally supplying us with every need according to You riches in glory in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). Lord thank You for abundantly pouring out Your love in our heart (Romans 5:5).  Lord thank You for doing abundantly more than we dare ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). In Christ Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN.

I hope you visit again. May God travel with you today.
