Today I’m encouraging you to read Genesis 43 through 45. Please look for and record any “Oh Wow!” moments you discover even if I’ve not recorded them on this website. If you have time share them with me.

Genesis 43:1-14.

Response: “Oh! Wow!” Lord thank You for hearing us when we call out to You.

Something to think about: Israel  says, “May God Almighty give you mercy” to his son. But it doesn’t sound like from the rest of his statement that he believes God will act in this situation. Oops! Do you remember a time you prayed for God to intervene and then dismissed your prayer by your words or actions?

Prayer: Lord may we will always pray believing You will answer and Your answer will be the best solution for our situation (Matthew 21:22).  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

Genesis 43:15-30 Joseph’s brothers were afraid when they were bought to Joseph’s house.  They didn’t really know what was going to happen.  They thought perhaps they would be harmed and seized as slaves.

Response: “Oh! Wow!” Lord You are trustworthy. Why do we forget that so often?

Something to think about: In verse 30 Joseph had a hard time keeping his emotions hidden. He left his brothers and went into another room to weep.  He composed himself and returned to eat.

Something to experience: Is there any situation or relationship that is causing you emotional distress?  Perhaps you might want to take time to go away by yourself and weep before the Lord. Only He can restore and heal relationships.

Prayer: Lord I pray when we are distressed by a situation we will come to You and be restored and healed. I pray we will hear and obey what You speak to us. In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

Genesis 44:1-45:8 Joseph set up his brothers once again to look dishonest.  Then Joseph broke down and revealed he was there brother.

Response: “Oh! Wow!” Joseph believed all he was experiencing was part of Your plan. Do I have that same level of faith?

Something to think about: Could this whole situation (beginning in Genesis 37) have been God’s plan all along?  Did all this happen so their lives (Joseph and his family’s) would be preserved? Listen to what Joseph says in Genesis 45:4-8: “I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into Egypt. Now don’t be grieved, nor angry with yourselves, that you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life. For these two years the famine has been in the land, and there are yet five years, in which there will be no plowing and no harvest. God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant in the earth, and to save you alive by a great deliverance. So now it wasn’t you who sent me here, but God, and He has made me a father to Pharaoh, lord of all his house, and ruler over all the land of Egypt.”

Something to experience: I want to experience all God wants me to experience.  How about you? How do we do that?  By trusting Him. By letting Him lead us.

Prayer: Lord I ask You to help us to lean on You (I Timothy 1:19).  I pray we will seek Your direction in the mundane and the not so mundane (Psalm 121:8).  In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

I hope you visit again soon. May God be with you.
