Part 1 What:
Well actually for a few days I will be doing a craft activity. At least that’s what I’m going to call it. It’s the time of year when my husband and I “deck our home.” We both love Christmas. And though it takes a few days for everything to be set up, I especially enjoy this season.
Part 2 Why:
Beginning tomorrow there will be 55 days until Christmas Day. The time goes by so quickly for me. Tomorrow I actively begin my official countdown to December 25th with a lot of help from my husband, Sid. We will be bringing out over 50 boxes of Christmas treasures from our attic. Now before you judge me, we have been married for over 50 years. And our collection has come from friends and family who know we love Christmas, from after Christmas sales, from garage sales and from crafts I do year round.
If you want to experience this Christmas season with us please visit my website daily to watch us “deck the halls, the walls, and the windows.” Only the garage is left alone. And who knows maybe something will show up there.
Part 3 How:
My hope is that you will find ways to honor Christmas in your home. Maybe you’re not into filling every available space with some reminder of Christmas. It’s not everyone’s “cup of tea.” Perhaps opening your family Bible on your coffee table to the Christmas story in Luke 2 would be quite enough for you. That’s perfectly okay. Do what will remind you of Christ Jesus, our Lord and our Savior. Don’t follow my example. Follow Jesus.
Prayer: Lord I pray all my friends and family will find ways to bring glory and honor to You, not just at this time of year but all year round (I Timothy 1:17 AMP: Revelations 4:11, 7:12 AMP). Lord I pray we will love and show unselfish concern for one another for according to Your Word then we will be recognized as followers of Your Son, Christ Jesus (John 13:34-35 AMP). Lord I pray we will serve and seek the best for one another (Galatians 5:13 AMP). Lord I pray we will carry one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2 AMP). Lord I pray we will walk continually in love. I pray we will value one another. I pray we will practice empathy and compassion, unselfishly seeking the best for others, just as Christ also loved us and gave Himself up for us (Ephesians 5:2 AMP). Lord I pray You will cause us to increase, excel and overflow in love for one another and for all people (I Thessalonians 3:12 AMP). Lord thank You for abundantly poured out Your love in our heart through the Holy Spirit within us (Romans 5:5 AMP). In Your precious Son, Christ Jesus’ name I pray. AMEN.
Scripture prayed in the prayer above:
I Timothy 1:17 AMP Now to the King of the ages [eternal], immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
Revelation 4:11 AMP “Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they exist, and were created and brought into being.”
Revelation 7:12 AMP “Amen! Blessing and glory and majesty and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might belong to our God forever and ever. Amen.”
John 13:34-35 AMP “I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you have love and unselfish concern for one another.”
Galatians 5:13 AMP For you, my brothers, were called to freedom; only do not let your freedom become an opportunity for the sinful nature (worldliness, selfishness), but through love serve and seek the best for one another.
Galatians 6:2 AMP Carry one another’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the requirements of the law of Christ [that is, the law of Christian love].
Ephesians 5:2 AMP and walk continually in love [that is, value one another—practice empathy and compassion, unselfishly seeking the best for others], just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God [slain for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance.
I Thessalonians 3:12 AMP And may the Lord cause you to increase and excel and overflow in love for one another, and for all people, just as we also do for you;
Romans 5:5 AMP Such hope [in God’s promises] never disappoints us, because God’s love has been abundantly poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
