Part 1 What

In this section I will always tell you WHAT I made. Today I made a Christmas tray. I made it with my $1.50 tray and my $0.25 holographic angels and snowflakes purchased from St. Mary’s Rummage Sale. If you like angels I believe it would be okay to leave this tray out year round.  Perhaps use on your vanity.

Part 2 Why

In this section I will always tell you WHY I chose this particular craft. When I go garage sale hunting I don’t always have a particular craft project in mind. But as I shop, I look for items that I can make into something that points me and others to God. The angel tray featured here will remind me that God’s angels are all around us.

Lord I pray we will love others by extending hospitality to them.  I pray we will not only be friendly, cordial, gracious and share our home with our family and friends but we will also extend hospitality to strangers, especially when they are among the family of believers. And we may be entertaining angels without even knowing it (Hebrews 13:1-2 AMP). Lord I pray You will command Your angels to protect, defend and guard us in all our ways as we obey and serve You (Psalm 91:11 AMP). In Christ Jesus’ name I pray.  AMEN.

Hebrews 13:1-2 (AMP) 1 Let love of your fellow believers continue. Do not neglect to extend hospitality to strangers [especially among the family of believers—being friendly, cordial, and gracious, sharing the comforts of your home and doing your part generously], for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it.

Psalm 91:11 (AMP) For He will command His angels in regard to you, to protect and defend and guard you in all your ways of obedience and service to Him.

(F.Y.I.  I’m so glad Psalm 91:11 ends with “in all your ways of obedience and service” because I believe that means when we extend hospitality we need to do what we believe God is leading us to do.  There is danger in just going out and doing something without God making that path clear to you.)

Part 3 How

In this section I will always tell you HOW to do the particular craft I’ve chosen. This angel tray is another inexpensive craft.  Don’t go out and buy a brand new tray unless it’s on sale.  Look around your house you may have one you’re not using.  And your decal angels can be downloaded free from the internet and then applied to the tray with either Mod Podge or glue that dries clear.

I painted my tray with two coats of blue acrylic paint.  I didn’t even sand it or remove the previous finish. I don’t like sanding. It’s messy. I also don’t like spray paint.  I can’t use it indoors and even outdoors it’s got a strong smell. Acrylic paint doesn’t smell. It doesn’t pool like spray paint does when I use it.   The acrylic paint was brushed in the same direction. I covered this tray in two even coats.  Once the paint was totally dry I glued the angels, the snowflakes stars and Psalm 91:11 in place. Once they were dry I applied Mod Podge all over the tray.

I love the results. And I already have plans for my new tray.
